Tomaso Maggiore, Phoenix cafe icon, has died

PHOENIX – Arizona restaurant legend Tomaso Maggiore, a fixture on the Valley culinary scene for far more than four decades, died right after battling most cancers, the spouse and children announced Saturday. He was 73.

Maggiore, who was born and lifted in the Sicily region of Italy, opened Tomaso’s Italian Restaurant on Camelback Highway in 1977. He would go on to launch additional than 50 eating places in Arizona and California.

In addition to Tomaso’s, the household-owned Maggiore Team at the moment operates the Hash Kitchen, Sicilian Butcher and Sicilian Baker ideas in the Phoenix location.
